Sorry for tl;dr this, but... I'd take the personal opnion about Maiko out of this entry D:
It's one thing to dislike a character, and another to degrade another pairing. I know that we Zutarians have gotten quite a lot of nasty remarks and bashing, but it doesn't mean that we should do the same (and I must shamefully admit that some of our ranks deserved the bashing). No one knows how things will turn out until the finale. And even if it should not turn out good for us, we still have fanon. To each their own.

I agree with Pinumbra, we wouldn't want to lower our own standards by acting like we have no self control. This is a very good read, and even if I'm a Zutarian, I say that I can tolerate Maiko more then I can Kataang, and Maiko started in a comic for pete's sake! Just don't expect me to ship it.

I agree with Artxet and Pinumbra. Keep opinion out. We Zutarians are proud, we never give up. These things are true. AND we have honor and with that comes the responsibility to respect other ships as our own. We don't have to like them, we don't even have to like the characters of other ships, but we must respect them and hold our tongues so not to say anything negative. Why? Because we don't like it when they do it to us. We're not so low as to bash or speak poorly of others. We're Zutarians, we're better than that, and certainly we are above premature celebrations and premature cries of canon, but that is another issue. As I said before: Keep opinion out. To each his own ship.

On a positive note: You raised several good points about the apparent end to Maiko.

Chances are, we'll still see Mai and Ty Lee again. Zuko has to have known that at least Mai would be locked away for what she did. Maybe there will be another jail break around the finale. I don't think I would mind that. After Mai's good deed, I don't quite dislike her as much, especially since we know for sure that she's not a threat to Zutara now!
