DO NOT FEAR THE SOZIN'S COMET BOOK no spo

I Love dA !

Okay, people.

Let's all just take a nice, big, deep breath and CALM DOWN.

I'm going to say this VERY CLEARLY: The Sozin's Comet book DOES NOT REVEAL what is actually going to happen in the finale. It does NOT.

It is NOTHING more than a fanfic.

In case you didn't know (and have been living under a rock), this Sozin's Comet book is full of comics that are apparently about the finale of Avatar the Last Airbender.

They are NOT. I have NO CLUE who started that rumor.

I have the Avatar comic books that were released a while ago, covering the first couple of episodes, and they are a TRUE version of what happened at the beginning of the series.

And GUESS who they are written by?

I quote: "Written by Michael Dante DiMartino & Bryan Konietzko. Additional writing by Aaron Ehaz, Peter Goldfinger, and Josh Stolberg."

In other words, ACTUAL PEOPLE WHO GET PAID BY NICK TO PUT THE STORY LINE OF AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER TOGETHER.

And who, may I ask, is this Sozin's Comet book written by?

David Bergantino and Patrick Spaziante, whoever the heck they are.

Actually, I know exactly who they are.

They are a fanfic writer and an illustrator who have an idea about what might happen in the much-anticipated finale of Avatar, who wanted to fill up their piggy banks by leading Avatards everywhere to believe that this is what actually will happen in the finale.

IT'S NOT. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY BUYING A STUPID FANFIC.

Everyone who has read it is disapointed and says that the storyline is pathetic and not very logical.

We all know very well that Bryke is VERY weary of letting out spoilers. For goodness sakes, at the NYCC, when the simple question "Will Ursa turn up again?" was asked, they blushed and mumbled, "You will have to wait and see."

And you REALLY BELIEVE that these guys, who were so hesitant to tell us whether one little character would make another appearance, would just BLOW THE WHOLE FRIGGIN FINALE by publishing it in some COMIC BOOK??!

There is absolutely NO WAY.

And if these David Bergantino and Patrick Spaziante people ACTUALLY found out what happened in the finale (which is basically impossible), and published it into a book, they would be sued SO FAST they would hardly have time to breathe.

IF indeed Nick wanted to release a comic book concerning the finale of Avatar, than THIS is exactly what would have been written on the cover:

"Written by Michael Dante DiMartino & Bryan Konietzko. Additional writing by Aaron Ehaz"

Why? Because THEY ARE THE OFFICIAL WRITERS of Avatar the Last Airbender, not some random men whom we've never even heard of before.

Yes, yes, Nick has done some pretty stupid things in the past.

But there is just no way they would spoil the most anticipated four episodes of the whole series WITH A  COMIC BOOK.

NO ONE is that dumb.

So if you read that book and you don't see your ship in it....

Big deal. I guess David Bergantino and Patrick Spaziante don't  support that ship.

ANYONE could do what they've done. ANYONE could send their fanfic and pretty pictures off to a publisher.

This stupid Sozin's Comet book is NOT ANYTHING like what will happen in the final four episodes of Avatar.

It's merely what David Bergantino and Patrick Spaziante THINK will happen or WANT to see happen.

And if you still aren't convinced, it says in the book description: "In this adaptation of the four-part Season Three finale..." ADAPTATION. Do you KNOW what this word means?

According to dictionary.com: "a form or structure modified to fit a changed environment

A MODIFYED FORM.

David Bergantino is considered to be "THE ADAPTER" of the Sozin's Comet book.

Bryke and Aaron Ehasz are considered to be the WRITERS of the OFFICIAL comic books covering the first couple episodes of Avatar.

David Bergantino is NOT an official writer, NOT an official author, NO, he is AN ADAPTER--the one who came up with the storyline of this MODIFYED VERSION of the Avatar: The Last Airbender finale.

Seriously. I think we are all going a wee bit paranoid.

If ANYONE you know is depressed or upset about this issue (as so many people are), give them a link to this journal.

We need to stop grieving and OPEN OUR EYES TO THE LOGICAL TRUTH.

With much ,
Amy-Anne

Sorry, to burst teh bubble but it is real...I bought it, I read it, and it's pretty legit to me. Besides Bryke doesn't have to write the book for it to be true, they could have easily hired some people to do it.

Face it, for every respectable arguement you make we can counter it. It's how things work, and Kataang has beat the pulp out of Zutara. (And I liked some of that Zutara too.)

...I would like to point one thing out.
This was published by Nickelodeon. Technically, Avatar belongs to Nick in addition to Mike and Bryan. While I can understand your disappointment that evidence suggests your beloved ship is not canon, your reaction strikes me as excessive. I don't think that Nick would authorize something that flagrantly defied canon and still call it an adaptation of the finale.

I'm sorry that the ending of this is going to mean that one group is sad either way. I'm a kataang, but I have no desire to flaunt any victory or make anyone else feel worse. it could or could have gone any way and i would like to think that the zutarians would have been mature about it as i would hope the majority of my side is being if they had won.

from a litterary standpoint the zuko katara thing never worked for me, but i respect the pairing as I would any pairing that people get behind with as much passion as your lot tends to show.

I would, however advise against martialling under this as a false hope. while it's possible that it might have been a "fanfic" legally speaking it would be a quick way to get sued if you impersonate someone else for the Q&A part. you're using someone else's name to endorse your beliefs and even though no money is being made, it is still legally foolish to do so. I also am skeptical that the book could be published under those circumstances.

My advice to you is the same advice i followed when it looked like zutara was going to happen for sure. don't just follow the person yelling "it's a fake!" make as much peace with it as you can and then be pleasantly surprised if it turned out to be a fake. hope is a wonderful thing, but blind hope isn't something that usually ends well for people.

Hmm I a big fan of Zutara as well, so yes I'm dissapointed with this ending. I'm dissapointed with the M&B interview as well.....making fun of Zutarians, after making a trailer that practically screamed ZUTARA!!!1 ...it's like they did it on purpose, and that kinda pisses me off....

I don't think the book is fake. There's lots of pictures and everything, why would they go trough all that work for a fake book. It's real, people! There's even a fugly picture of a kataang kiss :P seriously, who drew that!?

I'm fairly new to the Avatar universe. I just started watching it a few weeks ago. I know I don't know as much as others, but even to me the book seemed strange. And maybe I'm in denial, because the first great connection I saw was between Katara and Zuko (Aang & Katara seem more brother/sister to me), but I'd rather wait for the episodes in July and be disappointed then, than believe this book.

And Mai is just so boring! Blah!

The book is fake/incorrect until the episodes prove it otherwise.

Alright, I am totally, completely, madly in love with the idea of Zutara. But it seems to me like we are all forgetting who to show was made for; little kids.
Little kids who still think those of the opposite sex have cuddies that will eat their flesh and kill them within a matter of time. Yet, the little kids who have crushes on their older classmates and teachers (my grandpa had one on his 2nd grade teacher lol)
Remembering this it would only make sense for Aang to get Katara, a sort of living fantasy for any boy of that age without the twisted truth of relationships that older kids face.
Too many older kids are getting caught up in the 'romance' of the story, my little brother (10) and little sister (8) love the show, but not because Zuko and Katara would be perfect together, but because it's about a boy their age who saves the world. How cool is that!?
The majority of people who watch the show are little kids who can't get online and complain and post fan fiction or fan art, and the majority of people who ship Zutara are young teens and up.
It only makes sense, as much as it pains me, for Aang to get with Kutara now but it would be no different than an elementary school couple (You know, the ones where they get a 'new' guy every other week but one of them has no idea who the other even is lol. My sister is in one of those right now, it's sooooooo cute she comes home and talks about how great he is, but he has no idea they are even dating lol)
The show is on Nick, not Teen-nick or adult swim. Don't forget that.
PS. Zutara still rocks, but only because it makes more sense to me as an older teen. There is nothing wrong with Aang, he just seems a little too young to have Katara interested in him as anything other than the younger kid, but isn't that what almost every 12 year old boy wants, the older cuter girl who everyone else has already 'fallen' in love with?

So...yep, thats my comment, yay me! ^^

It even has that interview of Bryke being jerks toward Zutara and admiting being kataangs...

So he doesn't know how to write a story because your crappy little ship didn't happen? God, you're so pathetically ignorant. The creators are not sad little shippers like you. They CREATE the story. They didn't even know what shipping was for a little while. The whole story was meant to be Aang and Katara. They even take advantage of it and tease you fools with the trailers, giving you false hope that it'll happen. And obviously, it DIDN'T, because it was never meant to! Now shut the fuck up.

Well, yes they write the story and they write pretty bad. Kataang could have been a good story and they ruined it too...

So, let me do all a rant of how bad they write, since YES they SUCK at writting. I even feel so much rage that they got payment for that meanwhile other great artist and writers live in miserable situations.

But yes, In Graphic Disegne doesnt learn how to write scripts.

And I can say all what I want about them.

Like you can stop me.... PFFFT....

If they didn't know how to write, the show wouldn't be as popular as it is. Your logic, or rather lack of it, is pathetic. "Oh no, they didn't pair up the characters I like! This story sucks!" If you're so vain, then just fall in a ditch and die. Fanfiction.net was made so that people like you could rot in there.

They just got good rating because the 75 % of the people thought that they were going to make some zutara!

Because if it was just for kataang, that show would be over since the first episode.

They got popularity for something that they didnt even considered.

So, No Zutara. No good rating.

And yea, shipping aside, the end sux in itself.

You don't know how good it feels to find out about this... OMG I was freakin' out on my computer. I swear, I almost cried and I started screaming all over my house and my mom was asking "What's wrong wetheart!? Goddammit, tell me already!!"...

She told me to calm down... SO I read some fanfics (which didn't work) and THEN I found THIS and AVidZktjo's essay... And... *sigh* it was like a calming pill.

NOW I'm reading the scans... and... nothing makes sense at all, you know? I'm not buying that crap... Nor the book... nor the fanfic that it contains... abysmal. It's all that I can say about that book... abysmal.

And yes... I'll tell my fellow Zutarians, here in Venezuela, that... they have nothing to worry about...

Latin American Avatards that do not have internet are so naive! (Most of them ship Kataang)... *sigh* Gotta work on that...

Excuse me while I burst your naïve bubble. Sozin's Comet is not a fanfic, it's the official book of the finale published by Nickelodeon. The writers of the series didn't write the book because they're not professional novellists. That's what happens with books based on series. The creators hire a professional novellist to write it.
It's a common practice. For example: The writers of the Transformers movie didn't write the comic themselves, they hired Kris Oprisko.

Srry, but its real.

Reasons:

#1: Nick commissioned the book. Its technically nick's merchindise.

#2: All a writer would need is the script and a few screenshots, not the whole episode.

#3: It has an offical offical interview in it.

Zutara still is epic win. Kataang still sucks. So who really gives a rat's about the book?

The comic is fake?
The interview is fake?

Man, the day the finale airs on TV there will be fans claiming it to be fake as well.

Not one shipper has to admit defeat yet. Even if your ship won't happen on screen it can still happen in your fantasy. So stop acting like the world's gonna collapse, after all it's just a cartoon.

I think it must be frustrating for the creators to see that after they created a whole new world of fantasy, adventure, fights, intrigues and friendship all some "fans" worry about is who gets whom.
Sad.

It's not a fanfic. It has been officially published with the Nick logo and there is an interview with Mike and Bryan inside.

Patrick Spaziante is an official illustrator. I honestly don't see the point in bashing them, you know? Even though Sozin's Comet is merely an adaptation for kids of the series finale, all adaptations have grains of truth to them.

ANYONE could do what they've done. ANYONE could send their fanfic and pretty pictures off to a publisher.

True. But I highly doubt they can get away with it making it sound official. They'd get lawsuits on their tails faster than they can blink.

Please don't call the writers of the book stupid. Entries like this contribute to people's horrible stereotype of Zutara shippers as a whole.
